Nature Value Analysis for Kopparfors Skogar
Background
Kopparfors Skogar AB is one of Sweden’s largest private landowners, managing 285,000 hectares, including nearly 230,000 hectares of productive forest land.
Sustainability is central to their strategy, and gaining a refined picture of their forests’ ecological values is an important step toward developing a next‑generation environmental landscape plan.
As a substantial step towards this plan, Arbonaut and MW Forest Sense mapped key indicators regarding valuable habitats.
Solution
Arbonaut and MW Forest Sense conducted a nature value analysis for Kopparfors Skogar’s forest estate in Dalarna, Sweden.
The goal was to remotely identify areas that showed indicators of valuable habitats, giving Kopparfors a comprehensive understanding of the environmental values across their land.
“In addition to detailed knowledge from field inventories of structures and species over the past decades, we want a consistent overview of critical factors for planning nature conservation. With the new analysis we aim to point out some new hotspots to add to our landscape plans.” — Per Österberg, CEO, Kopparfors Skogar
