Arbonaut is looking to reinforce its team with a growing specialist in Forest and Environmental International policy specialist.
Arbonaut Ltd is a Joensuu-based technology company specialized in providing reliable and accurate digital information on forest ecosystems. Our services enable our customers to turn high-precision data into better decisions, better investments, and more relevant conservation policies. We operate globally and currently employ around 80 people, representing more than 15 different nationalities. Our customers are mostly public sector organizations, like ministries in charge of forests in many countries, or international organizations like the World Bank.
The location of the internship is Arbonaut’s office in Joensuu.
What to do:
You will review some international regulations to support our business developers in order to scope the services that Arbonaut can provide for its customers: governmental organizations, World Bank projects, Carbone project Developers, Forestry Industry. For example, you will review the European Union Regulation 2023/1115 on Deforestation (EUDR), Paris agreement, REDD+ program, EU Nature Restauration Law, Ramsar Convention etc.
In addition, you may participate in project planning and implementation regarding ESIA, REDD+ safeguards, World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and support our IP management by reviewing patents and supporting patent filling processes.
What we wish from you:
You are conducting a degree related to law or international policies in the field of forestry or environment. You have a genuine interest and experience in the forest sector related international policies and conventions, knowledge in ESIA. You are motivated, systematic, and you have good communication skills. Your English language skills level allow you to write documentation.
Basics knowledges in Geographic Information Systems, forestry, specific environmental topic and other languages than English, especially Spanish, French or Portuguese, are seen as an advantage.
