Vy Kauppinen came to Arbonaut as an International Business student from Karelia University of Applied Sciences seeking for an internship. After a successful interview with Alain Minguet, the Head of the Sales and Marketing Department, Vy joined the team and started her journey with us.

“Before I started at Arbonaut, I was so worried due to my little knowledge about forestry”, says Vy. But who isn’t worried to start a new chapter in life? We asked Vy to reflect on her professional growth, looking back 6 months ago, and how her life has changed ever since.

“Throughout my six-month internship, Arbonaut has tremendously helped me develop many useful skills and competences. Not only did the internship grow my experience as a business student but it also provides a multi-national working environment.

Arbonaut is one of the leading forestry companies in Finland with a growing expansion of international projects. Although I was assigned to the Marketing team, I could still take part in the Sales department and even the REDD+ projects to support them along the way. Arbonaut believes in transparency and tight collaboration. As a result, I had the chance to know a lot more about the forestry industry and the operation of their company.

I was assigned to produce marketing and tutorial videos before supporting market research for Arbonaut new products. In addition, I assisted constructing marketing strategy, enhancing the performance of our team. What I enjoyed most is Arbonaut's comfortable working environment. In management, the relationship between a subordinate and a supervisor is based on practical work. Employees and supervisors talk to each other as equals: naturally, and without formalities or special references. Tuomo Kauranne, the CEO, is kind and friendly to everyone no matter what job position you are in. Moreover, Arbonaut doesn't pressure the work with employees and often encourages work-life balance. Flexible working hours and networking during coffee breaks are great motivations for productivity.

My journey at Arbonaut has given me great memory, experience, and people. This will be the stepping stone for my career that I won't forget.”
